Opinion: On most issues, there is very little conflict between religion and science.
The conservative Protestants are equally likely to understand scientific methods, to know scientific facts and to claim knowledge of science. They are as likely as the nonreligious to have majored in science or to have a scientific occupation. … On most issues, there is actually very little conflict between religion and science. … The greatest conflict between fundamentalists, evangelicals and science is not over facts but over values.
I have a prayer request. I can't give any names, but it involves a 14 year girl who is like family. She was raped and just came out and told her family. Pray that justice is served, and she can find healing.
If you were being persecuted (and that persecution involved slander, reviling, mocking and insults) for being a Christian, how would respond bravely? I ask because I want to have ways in which to bravely respond when I get persecuted for my faith.
Well, I believe the best way to respond to persecution is how Christ did. When you read Matthew 27 and 28 and see Him crucified, you see He didn’t focus on clever remarks or bold statements. He quietly endured the unjust suffering, looking forward to His purpose and goal. Also, in Matthew 10:19, 20 He said : “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.” Read all of Matthew 10, where Jesus gives instruction to His disciples, especially for when they’re persecuted. It largely applies to us still today.
hey! i want to make a new tumblr, sort of like yours, as a christian kind of thing. i'm still new to the whole tumblr thing though so i was just going to ask how you make yours and where you get your pictures and stuff:)
Hey that’s awesome! I just made my account and started to follow people that posted Christian photos and quotes. Tumblrbot also recommends people based on what you post so that helps. Then you just reblog what you like and add a few posts of your own. Fill up your queue and let it rip! Let me know when you make it so I can follow you!
“If you want to know who God is, look at Jesus. If you want to know what it means to be human, look at Jesus. If you want to know what love is, look at Jesus. If you want to know what grief is, look at Jesus. And go on looking until you’re not just a spectator, but you’re actually part of the drama which has him as the central character.”—N.T. Wright (via firstbreath90)
“Each of the three Persons in the blessed Trinity is concerned with our salvation: with the Father it is predestination; with the Son propitiation; with the Spirit regeneration. The Father chose us; the Son died for us; the Spirit quickens us. The Father was concerned about us; the Son shed His blood for us; the Spirit performs His work within us.”—
“My feelings are not God. God is God. My feelings do not define truth. God’s word defines truth. My feelings are echoes and responses to what my mind perceives. And sometimes - many times - my feelings are out of sync with the truth. When that happens - and it happens every day in some measure - I try not to bend the truth to justify my imperfect feelings, but rather, I plead with God: Purify my perceptions of your truth and transform my feelings so that they are in sync with the truth.”—John Piper (via lyndseybrummell)
My prayer for everyone who reads this, that you would desire to be the most Christlike person who has ever lived and that you would desire for everyone in your lives to desire this, and so on. Christ be exalted in the earth. We wait for you Lord!
